It's been a minute since my last journal entry but I'll try my best to capture a few highlights of my work life, specifically pertaining to my Comic Book work and my Automotive Design work - my two different worlds.

In one world, I'm a Comic Book Artist, started back in 1992 with Image Comics, then Marvel Comics and currently with DC Comics.

I was thrilled that our BATMAN: Earth One book was a great success. Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, myself and the rest of the team are ready to tackle on Volume 2.

In another world, I'm an Automotive Artist involved in creating a design and style for builders and tuners as well as my own personal car.

I had a few cars that I got to design that made its debut at SEMA last year one of which is the FR-S GT designed for Daniel Song.

But there's a rare moment when both of my Comic Book work and Automotive work worlds collide.

And this was for the DC COMICS collaboration with KIA Motors in support of the "We Can Be Heroes" charity campaign.

It was a great honor working with the legendary artist JIM LEE to design 3 of the 7 Justice League-themed cars for this project. The characters we based the designs on are Green Lantern, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman based on KIA Sportage revealed at the 2013 New York Auto Show

I have to give credit to MV Designz, AutoKonexion, Source Interlink Media, BOWLS LA, DC Comics and KIA Motors for making this build a reality.

We have a few projects lined up this year but when both of my worlds collide like this, it's certainly an experience I will not soon forget

It's been forever since I've updated this journal. So much has things been going on so I'll try to squeeze the important ones best as I can in here:

First of, I'm honored to be working on a Batman title for DC Comics with the talented Gary Frank and a story written by no other than Geoff Johns! This is probably the best comic book work I've done. Lot's of details and Geoff and Gary works flawlessly with each other.

Second, We just finished building a 2012 Scion iQ for SCION (Toyota) which will be part of the Scion Tuner Challenge happening in SEMA show in Las Vegas. Below is a preview of the car we built called the IQ RX.

A lot of projects will be unveiled there as well but just glad for my health and all the blessings of friends and family which surrounds me.

UPDATE:

The interview done by Jennifer Contino of The Pulse about my comic book work etc is now up.

Here's a quick excerpt.

"Jon Sibal isn't just a skilled inker, although that's what Superman fans must think is his only skill, after seeing the way he meticulously inks Gary Frank in the pages of Action Comics. Sibal also provides automobile illustrations and other "car concepts" which shows his diversity in the art field. Sibal explained his work technique and gave us a few more fine details about inking the Man of Steel ...."

It was a pleasant surprise to log in to my dA and discover a more than usual traffic and comments on one of my pieces. So after reading the comments, I realized my "More Than Words" piece was awarded a Daily Deviation. This is my 1st one and am honored to be picked. Yay.

Thanks to  ~BoltBait for suggesting it and to ^ArhcamtIlnaad for featuring it. =)

Heres a linky:

Thank you to all who took time to visit and post here and in the news section. I appreciate all of your encouraging words. It was an honor to have competed with so many talented artist and the experience by itself is truly rewarding.

Receiving a congratulatory note from Lolly was truly unexpected. I had to reread it over and over again just to make sure. He also offered me a chance to visit the main office in Hollywood. CA. to pick up the prize. Sure it would be fine to send it but to get to meet the people behind DeviantArt was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

So my wife and I drove up from the "OC" to LA and was greeted by Richard (lolly). He was a great host, giving us a tour of the place as well as introducing us to the guys and gals behind the "dA machine". We also got a cool history of how dA came to be. So after a while , Angelo handed me the check and we took couple of pics and said our g-byes with Richard having the evil clown smile ending it with "Don't spend it all in one place". =)

Apart from the prize, the exposures was invaluable. Because of the win, I received some great offers and cool new gigs. Some I will be posting soon and some I can't due to NDA. This is the main reason why I haven't had time to post up any new artwork as it's been keeping me busy along with my usuall inking work, which is by the way probably the best stuff that Gary Frank have ever done. Please pick up a copy of Action Comics #858 onwards to see what I mean.

DeviantArt truly was a vessel of new opportunities. I'm thankful to be a part of it.
